On-grid solar
An on-grid system is connected to the utility grid and does not include battery storage. It's generally the more affordable option since batteries are a significant part of overall system cost.
The trade-off is that a standard on-grid system provides no power backup during a grid outage: when the grid goes down, the system typically shuts off as a safety measure, even if the sun is shining.
Hybrid solar
A hybrid system adds a battery bank to the setup, allowing stored solar energy to be used during outages or at night. This makes it a common choice in areas with frequent power cuts, or for homeowners who want backup for specific essential appliances.
The added equipment means a higher upfront cost, and the right battery size depends on which loads you want backed up and for how long.
