Roof area and access
You'll need a reasonably clear, structurally sound area with safe access for installation and future maintenance. Water tanks, existing structures, or heavily used rooftop space can reduce the usable area.
Shading
Shade from neighbouring buildings, water tanks, or trees during peak sunlight hours can meaningfully reduce output; even partial shading on one panel can affect a whole string of panels depending on the wiring configuration.
Roof type and structure
Flat concrete roofs (common in Indian homes) and sloped roofs both work, but require different mounting approaches. The roof's structural condition also matters, since the mounting structure and panels add weight.
